Finding ways for Eco-Friendly Living
6 Steps for Eco-Friendly Living
Did you know? The average U.S. citizen consumes nearly 237 metric tons worth of petroleum products over their lifetime. People often don't consider how much fuel they are using within their time on Earth. If we don't change our lifestyles soon, the future of humanity and Earth itself will be devastating. Here are my 6 favorite ways to go green at home!
1. Composting Your Leftovers: There's no need to throw away expired food! Food waste is separated in the same way as recyclables. One might purchase a compact composter to be used in the kitchen or a larger one to be placed outside. Your leftover food scraps can be used to nourish your garden, grass, or indoor plants instead of going to the trash!
2. Recycling: Although it's kind of obvious, recycling is one easy way to live a more sustainable lifestyle. All you need to do is place recyclable waste in your recycling bin and non-recyclable material in the trash. Waste that has been recycled can be made into new products rather than winding up in a landfill.
3. Use the Sun: A way to reduce your electricity use is to illuminate your home with direct sunbeams. Natural light is not only free and calming, but it may also aid in controlling temperature when used properly!
4. Reusable Water Bottles: Water bottles made of plastic are thrown away as soon as you are done with them. To make the plastic bottle itself, three times as much water is needed as the contents. Use a refillable water bottle instead of wasting water and adding plastic waste to landfills.
5. Energy-Efficient Lightbulbs: Did you know LED lightbulbs last longer and use less energy than the usual lightbulb? Switch to LED lightbulbs the next time one of your lights goes out!
6. Start A Garden: Starting your own garden has proven to be therapeutic to people. It allows you to also aid in the journey to preserve and keep the environment safe! Not only that, but you might also be able to save money by planting fruits and vegetables!
These are just a few ways that you could go green and help save the earth. There are plenty of other ways you can contribute to being a hero to the environment we live in.
